Base fees are broken into two parts (both of which must be paid in order to participate in Pack 122 activities) and are charged as follows:
Part One: Paid online directly to Scouting America at registration and thereafter on your annual registration anniversary
(Current as of June 10, 2026; subject to change)
National registration fees: $85 (waived for children of military members, see below for information)
San Diego-Imperial Council fees: $85
Optional Scout Life magazine subscription: $15
Note: For Scouts registered prior to fall of 2023, this date will be January 1. Pack 122 is unable to refund start-of-year pack dues for those who do not renew their Scouting America membership.
Part Two: Paid to Pack 122 via Square invoice (due September 15 or 2 weeks after new Scout registration date if after September 1)
Pack 122 annual dues:
$140 for the 2026–27 Scouting year ($95 for 5th grade AOL Scouts)
Refunds of pack dues, not including the current month or any awards received, are available within 30 days of payment.
Pack dues covers the cost of awards required in order to earn the annual rank award (extra electives will be invoiced separately or can be purchased at the Scout Shop) and pack overhead (which includes things like equipment storage and pack meeting expenses). Pack dues are reduced for our fifth grade Arrow of Light Scouts, as they leave us in March.
Transferring Scouts
Scouts who transfer from another unit and are current on their national fees will pay for the San Diego-Imperial Council fees and pack dues, but do not pay additional national fees. You can transfer your Scout at beascout.scouting.org. Pack dues will be prorated if you transfer in the middle of the year.
Military Families
Scouting America has announced the Military Family Fee Waiver, starting June 1, 2026, for all new and renewing youth members whose parents or legal guardians are currently serving as active-duty members of military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Space Force, and Coast Guard), Reserves, or National Guard. Eligible families may receive a waiver of the $85 national registration fee. During registration or membership renewal, you will see a link for "Get Military Discount Code" that will walk you through the verification process and give you a code that you will then enter at checkout. San Diego-Imperial Council registration fees and pack dues are not covered by this waiver.
Because we know that not everyone can participate in all activities, special activities and events are billed separately rather than built into our annual dues. These include family camp-outs in the fall and spring, the Pinewood Derby, and the Blue & Gold Banquet, as well as an awards package for 5th grade Scouts who earn the Arrow of Light, when they cross to the troop at the banquet. Extra activities put on by your den, the pack, or council may also incur an additional fee, if you participate in them.
Uniforms are not included and must be purchased separately, either online or in the Scout Shop at BSA headquarters in Balboa Park. Scouts who wish to have a physical handbook can also purchase that at the Scout Shop or online. There was a major program change starting in 2024 and this means that handbooks issued prior to that time do not contain correct information. If you are purchasing a used handbook, verify that it is the most recent edition.

Scouts can reduce their expenses by "paying their own way" through our annual online popcorn fundraiser that mainly runs August through September (though you can continue to sell year round). Fundraising can cover up to two participants at each campout and the Blue & Gold Banquet, the Pinewood Derby, and the Arrow of Light award (for 5th grade Scouts). If you would like to participate in selling popcorn, you can visit https://portal.trails-end.com/ to get started. Please be careful to choose "San Diego-Imperial Council" during sign-up (there is a council called the Coronado Council, but it is not us!) We are Pack 0122 in the Coastal Sage district.
